Turning Play Into Learning!

As you can see the kids had a lot of fun playing with the connecting cubes. As they were playing, they were practicing quiet voices, staying in one spot, and cleaning up. Then we used the blocks in conjunction with our daily number of the day to practice counting.

Some students even made the number 4!

Preparing for Workstations

I have to be honest... I "trick" my students all day long.  I trick them into learning while playing with blocks.  I trick them into learning to count by singing it to tunes.  I trick them into learning sight words by reciting poems all week.  Kindergarten is a very fun place, and most of the time, the kids do not even realize they are learning!  Here are some pictures of the students learning how to use and share different manipulatives we will use in math.  Also, we practiced having quiet voices and cleaning up!  See I tricked them into thinking they were playing, but I was only preparing them for work stations!

Our Second First Day!

Wow! We had a great day again!  I am so excited to be the teacher of these fabulous children.  We did very much the same activities as the first day, and we had just as much fun!

We discovered today that we can read!  I was amazed at how well the kids could read the pictures in No, David!

We worked on our color, cut, and paste skills.

And we practiced using our math tools.

We are going to have a great year!
